De initial impression is good. Finish is quite reasonable. What struck me is that the weight of the after market mirrors is literally half that of the original. So only time will tell how durable they are (the originals were still very good after 30 years and only met their demise in an accident) I have heard that due to the lighter construction the mirrors vibrate more, but since my car is not yet on the road, I have not experienced that myself.

The only criticism so far is the plastic spacer that goes between the base of the mirror and the door. The original is made of a soft rubber material and protects the paintwork on the door from the mirror rubbing on the paint work and from dirt getting underneath. The after market version is relatively hard plastic and would do nothing to protect the paint or to dampen vibration . When I put the spacer from the old mirror on, I realised that inexplicably, the base of the new mirror is a bit smaller than the original and the old spacer is too big. I still left it on as it protects my new paint work. It probably also insulates the mirror better from vibration.

Finally: how much (little) would it cost extra to chrome plate the base of the mirror as well? That would look much better.
